A Typical Day Aboard a Gulet Cruise

!

After a blissful night's sleep in your luxurious cabin, you wake to the sound of teaspoons tinkling in Turkish glass teacups as the crew prepare your traditional Turkish breakfast.

A feast of fresh food is served in the warm morning sunshine of the aft deck. Some may have slept outside and will have tales of sleeping under the stars and waking to watch a spectacular sunrise over the mirror-calm water of the bay and surrounding mountains. They will tell you of the joy of their early morning dip before everyone else woke up.

After breakfast, your Captain will up anchor and take you to picturesque hidden bays, beaches, islands and coves. The thrill of your very own "painted ship upon a painted ocean" ...the romance of this spectacular wooden boat cruising through waters which shade from the deepest midnight blue to the palest turquoise hue. You will have the opportunity to visit beautiful places normally unseen and totally unspoilt by tourists.

Life on board is a very relaxed affair, sunbathing, swimming, enjoying conversation, maybe a spot of fishing, enjoying a good book or forty winks in the shade of an awning after lunch and just chilling-out with a cold drink while admiring a spectacular sunset. After a cooling shower and a change of clothes in your air-cooled cabin it's time to join your friends on deck for an aperitif and see what's cooking on the barbeque before settling down for a delicious traditional Turkish mezze of food for dinner.

The Gulet cruise itinerary is equally relaxed but rest-assured your thoughtful Captain will ensure you see the best of everything his area of coast has to offer. Occasionally, as a treat, when there is no rush and the wind is right, we may get the sails up for an hour or so.

Exploring colourful bazaars and markets on shoreFor the more adventurous and young at heart, watersports equipment is provided: Windsurfer, canoes, "noodles" and snorkelling gear. Jet-skis, waterskiing, parascending,"ringos" and "bananas"can also be arranged by your Captain.

There may be an opportunity to walk ashore and explore pretty harbour towns with colourful bazaars selling gold/silver, handmade jewelry and leather goods, colourful carpets, textiles and spices.

Maybe indulge in the simple pleasure of observing daily life at the traditional Fish and Fruit markets. Be sure not to miss the many historical sites of this Lycian Coast, which is graced by temples, amphitheatres, castles, rock tombs and ruined villages.

Evenings and nights are spent at anchor in cool, tranquil bays under skies full of stars or occasionally moored in a pretty harbour.
